Profound Logic Unleashes a New Version of RPG Alive
August 3 , 2004 – Profound Logic today announced the release of RPGsp (RPG Smart Pages) version 3.0. In this release, Profound Logic Software added a number of key features that streamline developers’ efforts to create RPG-based Web Applications. Among the new enhancements is a more intelligent RPG/HTML compiler, IntelliSense code completion, IntelliSense syntax tooltips, support for CL and DDS editing, and improvements to the Apache configuration wizard.
The new IntelliSense features provide an array of options that make language references easily accessible. When coding, developers no longer need to leave the environment to perform searches on language elements. They can keep their context, find the information they need, insert language elements directly into their code, and even have IntelliSense complete their typing for them. IntelliSense was added for RPG operations, RPG built-in functions, HTML tags, RPGsp add-on functions, CL commands, and other language elements relevant to RPG-based Web Development.
A new functional editor for CL and DDS source members is now also included in the RPGsp IDE. The editor includes a robust CL prompter that supports a great number of common iSeries commands. iSeries shops can also extend the editor’s prompting capabilities by providing definitions for rare or for custom commands.
The new RPGsp IDE also provides extra control over compiling iSeries web and traditional objects. For example, the developer can now override individual database files during the compile, redirect the compiler listing to a specific output queue, or alter the character sets used for transferring information between the iSeries and the RPGsp Development Environment.
